I had lunch on Thursday with Marilyn (Davies) who was in my class and whom I hadn't seen for about 36 years. We contacted one another through friendsreunited and discovered that we both live in Sydney. It occurred to us that it would be great to have a Downer reunion for Downerites living in Australia. I know Bob Head lives here (near Marilyn as it turns out Bob) but are there many more of us?

just thought i'd add a couple of names to the downer downunder list: David Gowan (thats me) 1959-65 lived in Melbourne for about 20 years Glenn Gowan (elder brother) 1955-60 living in Sydney for about 10 years it'd be good to hear from any other downer survivors living in this part of the world... Gerry - started using my middle name after sharing a house with three Daves - it got a bit confusing

Just to keep the names under one heading, others here in Oz from '55-'60/'62 include myself (Bob Head), Suzanne Clothier, Elisabeth Sewell, Angela Beagley and Carol Morris. I know of Steve McGeckie in Perth and someone else I forget the name of for the moment - lives in Sylvania (Waters?!).

Hi Lyn,
Good to know there's another Downerite in Sydney. Where are you? I live in Castle Hill and Marilyn (Davies) and Bob Head live over on the South side. Helen.

We had the first meeting of the Sydney branch of Downer Down Under today! We - Marilyn Davies, Bob Head, Lyn Davies, Phil Cockell and Helen Hill met for lunch and I for one, thoroughly enjoyed myself. Bob was wearing his Downer tie and carrying his Compotus and Phil was wearing his blue and maroon scarf.
Claire Rockall had sent photos of the reunion of the 1960 - 65/67 year group to Marilyn, who lent them to me to scan, so here they are via Sydney!

My Husband and I are coming to Oz at Xmas. From 11th Dec - 3rd Jan (for the Cricket tour, so we are doing Syndey, Melbourn and Brisbane..
If any of you Syndey people know of ANY Hotels that still have rooms for NEW YEAR let me know, as we had a booking made, but it seems that there was an "oversight" and we are not not booked in at all.

I seem to be having trouble uploading a photo of the Sydney reunion to the Downer site. I've done it before with no difficulty so don't know what's going wrong. I've now tried twice so we may end up with two copies of the same photo if it ever gets there! Does anyone have any ideas?
By the way Lee, did you find a hotel or do you want us all to ring around? If so you'll need to specify exact dates. It seems likely that there would be accommodation available away from the city centre itself.

Thank you for that information, we're getting to be a good sized group here in Sydney. Curl Curl is a beach suburb of Sydney. If you think that's funny, what about Lilli Pilli and Woolloomoolloo!
